Happy

Happy
In the fields picking blackberries, ripened black beads burst- catching us red handed.

Smacked bums as we trespassed on Cucowagens farm, jumping from bails of hay into freedom we landed.

Walking into Quilty stepping up away from the cars

Our little legs making the distance seem so far.

Backpacked togs and towels we make the epic journey to sea field beach.

Where sandwiches and taytos crunched our saltwatered mouths

I was happy then as I am now

Sitting by the open fire we squeeze and fit together like Lego blocks

Warming our little cotton socks

‘The crators sure’

As Nanny and Grandad sit in their chairs

We were all safe and at home there

I was happy then as I am now

My childhood with Anton and Vanessa

Memories I’ll always treasure

I was happy then as I am now
